About “Warrior Entrepreneur”:
“Warrior Entrepreneur” details Zachary Green’s journey from the U.S. Marines to how his volunteer firefighting experiences triggered his first start-up company. As a firefighter in Cincinnati, Ohio, Green was lost in a smoke-filled structure fire and became disorientated to the point, he lost track of his crew and his way out of the burning building. Green used that experience to launch a company which helped firefighters see each other better in the dark with high output photoluminescent materials.
Green speaks about his personal struggles starting businesses, including mortgaging his home and maxing his credit cards. He describes his ability to face adversity and adapt to the circumstances – lessons he learned as a soldier. In 2020, he almost died from COVID-19. During his recovery, he was reminded of the “warrior” principles which can be applied to any career, business, or life situation.
One of Green’s companies, LumAware, has grossed $30 million in organic sales and has raised several million dollars in venture funding. His products are used by over 80,000 firefighters and three of the nation’s largest retailers.
Green is currently the director of the HEROES program at the Don Ryan Center for Innovation. This program assists first responders and active/retired/former military develop and grow their small businesses.
