Blessings for Bluffton

The Bluffton Police Department (BPD), via its victims advocate and community mental health advocate divisions, has developed an outreach program, “Blessings for Bluffton,” to support neighbors who are experiencing financial challenges and develop deeper connections with residents.

This program, which was the brainchild of BPD’s Victims Advocate Kate Cooler, will provide a one-time gift of assistance for those who are experiencing a challenging time such as a house fire, death of family member and so forth.

Funding

Anyone can nominate a family who may need assistance.  Each month, funds permitting, one to two families will be selected for a “blessing” from BPD. This program will be funded via gift cards or donations to the Bluffton Police Department’s Benevolence Fund, which is managed via the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL). BPD representatives will also provide the family or individual with contacts for further social services resources, if needed.

This program is funded by the community, for the community. People can nominate families or individuals via the Town’s website. Go to the Town’s website, “townofbluffton.sc.gov.” and search for “Blessings for Bluffton,” to find the application or via link.
